CST Station · Kala Ghoda · South Mumbai | Candid Pre-Wedding Photography | Mumbai
Madhumita and Supreet did not need to come to Mumbai for this shoot.
They flew in anyway.
Mumbai is not where they live. But it is, in the way that certain cities are for certain people, a place that belongs to them — or perhaps more accurately, a place they belong to. Memories lived in these streets. The particular chaos of CST at dawn, the art deco quietness of Kala Ghoda before the galleries open, the feeling of South Mumbai in the early morning when the city is still deciding whether to wake up. They wanted their pre-wedding photographs here because here is where something important had happened, even if the photographs did not exist yet to prove it.
We started early. That was the only way to do it properly.
CST Station
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in the morning light is one of those Mumbai sights that makes you stop, regardless of how many times you have seen it. The Gothic architecture catches the early sun in a way that feels almost deliberate — as if the building knows it is being watched and performs accordingly. We worked around the commuters, the pigeons, the particular organised chaos of a station that never really sleeps. Madhumita and Supreet moved through it as people who know a place move through it — unhurried, at ease, with the quiet confidence of belonging. The candid frames from here have a scale to them. Two people, one magnificent building, and the morning light doing the rest.
Kala Ghoda
Kala Ghoda gave us something different. Narrower streets, art on walls, the Jehangir Art Gallery and the old David Sassoon Library standing in companionable silence. The neighbourhood has a stillness at that hour that South Mumbai's busier pockets do not — and it suited Madhumita and Supreet completely. This is where the most intimate candid photographs happened. The city was present but not pressing. There was room to breathe, to laugh, to be with each other without the session feeling like a session.
Some of our favourite frames from the entire shoot came from a single unremarkable stretch of Kala Ghoda pavement, in the light of about 7:30am, when neither of them was thinking about the camera at all.
That is always the moment we are working towards.
Swai Tales shoots pre-wedding sessions across Mumbai and beyond — candid, unhurried, and built entirely around the places and memories that matter to you.
